April 16, 2017: Robi & VU Mobile launch Kaspersky Mobile Internet Security products

 

Dhaka: VU Mobile in partnership with Robi Axiata Limited has launched Kaspersky Mobile Internet Security products for Robi subscribers. Kaspersky Internet Security for Android and Kaspersky Safe Kids are the two products that will now be available for Robi subscribers. 

Kaspersky's local partner in Bangladesh, VU Mobile organized a launching event at LakeShore Hotel. Robi’s Managing Director and CEO, Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, VU Mobile’s CEO Kaymun Amin  and Kaspersky’s Asia Pacific Business Development Director, Daewan Ku were present on the occasion.

February 3, 2017: CEO and Founder of VU Mobile Ltd Kaymun Amin speaks at the 'Digital Service delivery: prospects & challenges' at SoftExpo 2017

 

Dhaka: The founder of VU Mobile made the observation during his keynote speech at the 11th BASIS SoftExpo 2017. He was speaking at a seminar on “Digital Service delivery: prospects & challenges”

The increasing use of smartphones and mobile internet is opening new horizons in online media, mobile VAS and digital services, and mobile app monetisation, said Amin.

Mobile billing and mobile advertising will be the main sources of generating revenue from these opportunities he said.

The seminar was one of the major attractions at Bangladesh’s biggest software expo and featured a discussion on how digital services were impacting on global industries and the opportunities and challenges faced by Bangladeshi companies attempting to launch successful digital services.

Kaymun Amin was joined by Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry Imran Ahmed, BASIS President Mustafa Jabbar, and Wintel Chairman ATM Mahbubul Alam during the discussion.

13th May, 2016: VU Mobile attends Mobile Gaming & ICT summit in Korea

A business delegation of Bangladeshi mobile app and game developers led by ICT State Minister of Bangladesh H.E Mr. Junaid Ahmed Palak participated in the Bangladesh-Korea summit on Mobile Gaming and ICT in Seoul held on May 13.

VU Mobile represented by Kaymun Amin, Founder & CEO participated in the event.

The event was organized by Bangladesh Embassy in Korea, BASIS and KOCCA (Korea Creative Content Agency)

VU Mobile held one on one meetings with mobile gaming companies from Korea to explore business opportunities in Bangladesh and Korea.

22-25th February, 2016: VU Mobile attends Mobile World congress

Over 100,000 attendees attended the Mobile World Congress 2016 and VU Mobile was one of them. 

Everything from virtual reality, new handsets, mobile technology, app ideas - how mobile-connected products are transforming our personal and working lives and how is it changing the way the world communicates; was covered in the 4 day exhibition.

VU Mobile got a scope to witness and observe diverse range of future mobile industry products, as well as the latest technological developments, next generation services and took part in interactive demonstrations.

10th February, 2016: VU Mobile annual company outing 

VU Mobile annual company team outing was held in The Base Camp, an outdoor activity camp just 14 kilometers outside Dhaka city in Gazipur.

The team participated in a lot of fun and exciting activities such as ground challenges, on-tree activities, zip lining and experienced the thrill of walking though the wilderness.

The outing ended with a pleasant note. Everyone had a wonderful experience, fantastic time on the one day fun packed adventurous outing.

7th December, 2015: Amar Sticker: First Bangla Sticker App In The World

Amar Sticker, the first Bangla Sticker App, started its journey with 50 stickers. Now, the library consists more than 2000 stickers. It is the ultimate Bangali way to chat with friends and family and express yourself in the unique way of a Bangali. Amar sticker has a rich collection of funny, dialogue, love, greetings, Islamic and event themed stickers. It also has original characters such as: Chowdhury Shaheb, Laila, Lucky Bhai and Bittu that you will find nowhere else.

The motivation behind launching Amar Sticker was the fact that Bangla is the 7th most spoken language in the world and there was no dedicated Bangla sticker section in the leading chat applications such as Whatsapp, viber, messenger etc. So VU Mobile wanted to develop a sticker app which allowed one to share Bangla stickers in any chat application installed on their smartphone.

14th May, 2015: VU Mobile’s Annual Retreat 2015 held in Sylhet

 VU Mobile annual company retreat was held at Shuktara Nature Resort, situated on a hill top, located about 40 KMs from Bangladesh - Indian border and foothills of the Himalayas.

All employees and management participated in the 2 day long event in the picturesque resort and also made a trip to Jafflong on the Meghalaya-Sylhet border. 

 

 April 6, 2015: VU Mobile unveils beacon mobile marketing platform 

Dhaka: VU Mobile unveiled their beacon mobile marketing platform called AdPlace in a launch event attended by leading digital agencies and brands. 

Beacons are small pieces of hardware — small enough to attach to a wall or shelf — that use battery-friendly, low-energy Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connections to transmit messages or prompts directly to a smartphone or tablet using an Android or iOS mobile application.

DHAKA: Corporate, industrial and commercial institutions are becoming interested about online news portals as the people are becoming more interested and dependent on it.

The banglanews24.com is also refurbishing itself in the form of creating Android and iPhone versions to reach the people of remote areas.

Alamgir Hossain, Editor-in-Chief of banglanews24.com, made the observation while addressing an agreement signing ceremony between Banglanews24.com and VU Mobile Ltd at the head office of the news portal on Wednesday evening.

September 20, 2014: VU Mobile sponsors and participates in Bangladesh Digital Marketing Summit

The first ever Digital Marketing Summit was held in Dhaka Radisson hotel on September 20th.  More than 800 attendees were in attendance at the daylong event to hear the keynote speakers and the panel discussions on various aspects of Digital Marketing.

June 09, 2014: bdnews24.com & VU Mobile Ltd. join hands.

Toufique Imrose Khalidi, Editor-in-Chief of Bangladesh’s first internet newspaper, and VU Mobile Chief Executive Kaymun Amin signed the agreement at bdnews24.com office on Monday afternoon.


Through this agreement VU Mobile will bring new advertisement inventory through its network to bdnews24.com’s mobile readership. On the other hand bdnews24.com will be able to offer customized targeting for its advertisers on mobile phones.

bdnews24.com has put VU Mobile banners on test over the last month.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Amin said that this would add to the portfolio of both the organizations. “bdnews24.com clients can now serve their advertisements to specific readers as per their desire using our technology.”

bdnews24.com’s head of sales and marketing, Tanim Ahmed said this new deal will show the difference between print and online more clearly to advertisers, who will be able to get more value for money for their campaigns.

“Now we will be able to add value and also charge premium rates. With over seven million visits on our mobile site every month, we will be able to deliver volume not matter what the clientele profile,” he said.

According to Google Analytics, bdnews24.com had 2.7 million unique visitors in May visiting the site for almost 16 million times.

Bangladesh is home to 160 million people with over 70% of the population living in rural areas on $2 per day or less. The country is the ninth-largest market worldwide in terms of mobile subscribers in Q1 2013 with 70 million ‘unique’ subscribers (i.e. people) actively using 112 million mobile connections.  Market penetration based on unique subscribers stands at just 40%, compared to 72% in Russia and 56% in Brazil. This shows tremendous room for growth, and explains why the country ranked 46th worldwide in terms of annual connections growth in Q1 2013.

There are considerable opportunities for new players and investment in mobile advertising, mobile application development and mobile commerce.
